THIS IS STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 3

In 1998, Street Fighter Alpha 3 (SFA3) would be host to the first true international rivalry between the USA and Japan, with Alex Valle and Daigo Umehara slugging it out over a series of unforgettable battles. Despite being the premiere game until the early 2000s, however, it eventually lost steam due to the discovery of what many considered to be game-breaking mechanics. Over the years, the legend of SFA3 as a broken game began to overshadow its golden years as one of Capcom's deepest fighters, and in time, became its only legacy in the west.

In 2021, Riz0ne decided it was time to rewrite the lore around SFA3 and reached out to North America's strongest player Kyokuji, and famed Japanese verteran D44, with a new mission: show people the real Street Fighter Alpha 3 and make the game accessible to a broader audience again. Combining his love for Super Turbo/2X, and the ISM-based gameplay philosophy of SFA3, the name 2XISM was born.

By using a variety of fun formats and creative stipulations, the 2XISM tournament series allows both players and viewers alike to experience SFA3 from a new perspective.

2XISM VII: ADRIAN’S REVENGE

  • 2XISM is back for the 7th time with players getting another shot at revenge!

    Additionally, MoscowMitch aka caliagent put up a $200 bounty for anyone who can beat the 2XISM Champion, Kyokuji "The Machine".

    TOURNAMENT FORMAT

    -V/A/X-ISM

    -You MUST use each ISM only once, making it a true 3/5 format throughout the tournament.

    -You may duplicate your character, but cannot pick the same ISM.

    The Bounty:

    (1) $200 added to the tournament.

    (2) The Player to send Kyokuji to LOSERS cashes 70%.

    (3) The Player to ELIMINATE cashes out remaining 30%.

    (4) If The Player does BOTH from Grand Finals, cash 100%.

    (5) Bounty ends when Kyokuji is eliminated.

    On November 7th, 2021, Riz0ne hosted 2XISM VII alongside co-streamer Sabin. 32 players signed up, making this the biggest 2XISM tournament to date!

2XISM 6

  • The 2XISM tournament series is back with its sixth installment! As usual, new rules were implemented. In this format, the first character of every set must be random select. Additionally, MoscowMitch aka caliagent put up a $100 bounty for anyone who can beat the 2XISM Champion, Kyokuji "The Machine".

    The Bounty:

    (1) +$100 every tournament for the rest of the year.

    (2) The Player to send Kyokuji to LOSERS cashes 70%.

    (3) The Player to ELIMINATE cashes out remaining 30%.

    (4) If The Player does BOTH from Grand Finals, cash 100%.

    (5) Bounty ends when Kyokuji is eliminated.

    On August 22nd, 2021, Riz0ne hosted 2XISM 6 alongside co-streamer Sabin. 25 entrants participated, including many fresh new faces, making this the highest number of sign ups for 2XISM!

    After the tournament, more exhibition matches were played.

2XISM V

  • The 2XISM tournament series is back with its fifth installment, allowing players to once again use V-ISM!

    On July 18th, 2021, Riz0ne hosted 2XISM V alongside Sabin who came through to stream the Top 8. A total of 17 entrants participated making for some amazing highlights. Special guest, Tank from Trinidad, was given the opportunity to compete making the road to Top 8 that much more difficult for everyone else.

  • For the fourth installment of the 2XISM series, we saw many old school players compete in the A-ISM + X-ISM format!

    On June 20th, 2021, Riz0ne hosted 2XISM 4, alongside fellow commentators and competitors Kyokuji and AfroCole. 22 entrants came together, many of them being A3 experts, so this was a brutal event!

    AfroCole also provided some LORE throughout the tournament on the mics so you definitely don't want to miss any of that!

2XISM ALPHA

  • Following up with the 2XISM tournament series, the third installment was played as an A-ISM only event with expert Haqq in attendance!

    On May 16th, 2021, Riz0ne hosted 2XISM Alpha, alongside fellow commentators and competitors Kyokuji and NYCFurby aka Sabin. A total of 17 players fought it out to see who would take the number one spot.

    Fun fact: Sabin was playing in both this tournament and a SFV tournament, while streaming, on the day his sponsorship to beastcoast was announced!

2XISM TURBO

  • Following up on the previous "2XISM" tournament which allowed all ISMs to be selected, a unique format was run for 2XISM Turbo. Players could only choose X-ISM, which takes away air block, custom combos, and tech rolls, but adds higher damage, one bar of SUPER, and more "honest" gameplay.

    On April 18th, 2021, Riz0ne hosted 2XISM Turbo, alongside fellow commentators and competitors Kyokuji and NYCFurby. 29 players joined to show the possibilities that can exist with X-ISM only.

    After the tournament, Que$t of the Australian A3 FGC hopped on the mic as we watched exhibition matches between AU and FR respectively, as well as Trinidad's A3 expert Tank vs. the evening's champion.

  • Street Fighter Alpha 3 (known as Street Fighter Zero 3 in Japan) was the last official arcade release of the Street Fighter Alpha series in 1998. Known for its unique game mechanics, three ISMs to choose from, and a healthy roster of characters, SFA3 is a challenging, yet fun and rewarding game at the highest levels.

    On March 19th, 2021, Riz0ne hosted "2XISM" -- a tournament for North America, alongside fellow commentators Kyokuji of Canada, and SFZ3 legend d44 of Japan. What also made this tournament special was it also happened to be d44's birthday!
